Marriott Copley Hotel
Join the University of Massachusetts Boston’s Center for Collaborative Leadership, many of the area’s most distinguished business and civic leaders, as we celebrate our twelfth year. The luncheon will also celebrate and honor the 2013 Emerging Leaders Fellows and welcome the new 2014 cohort of Fellows.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Kerry Healey, President-elect of Babson College. Dr. Healey is the former Lt. Governor of Massachusetts and a leading advocate for the expansion of women’s rights and higher education in Afghanistan. She is an internationally known and respected leader with nearly three decades experience in academia, government, and international diplomatic and humanitarian work.

At the luncheon, we will also honor the memory of Joe Morrissey ‘05 with the inaugural Leading the Way Award. In his application essay, Joe wrote, “My definition of leadership is a person or a group of people willing to take action. They take the initiative when no one else will. Leaders need to be courageous, risk takers, and stand up for what they believe in.” He lived his life as a true leader, by his own definition, and he will be missed.
Carrie Weatherbee Cunningham was on Joe’s project team working with the UMass Boston Urban Scholars Program. She writes, “Joe had that rare quality that after talking with him for 15 minutes you felt he understood you better than anyone you’d ever known and he became an instant friend. His smile lit up the room and everything he did was driven by his caring for others- family, friends, and youth- those he worked with and those who would never know what he did on their behalf.”
For the many ways in which Joe embodied the Center’s vision of collaborative leadership, we will be presenting the first annual Leading the Way Award in honor of Joe’s memory.
Tickets and Sponsorships can be purchased on-line below, or by check payable to the UMass Boston Emerging Leaders Program and mail to Center for Collaborative Leadership, UMass Boston, 100 Morrissey Blvd., Boston, MA 02125
Event will also feature a silent auction.
