If you are admitted to the Emerging Leaders Program, your participation will begin with an orientation meeting on August 13 at UMass Boston. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The program begins with a week-long (full-day) seminar from September 8 through September 12, 2014, as well as full-day meetings on October 16, November 20, January 15, February 12, March 19, April 16, and one in early June for the team project. You will also take part in an eight-month-long team project that will involve some additional meeting time.

Regular evaluation is important to us and you will be given an opportunity to confidentially evaluate the program’s content and faculty.

Please provide an up-to-date resume. If the resume does not describe your current affiliations and interests (e.g. nonprofit boards, professional organizations, volunteer programs), please add a page with this information.

Also please provide a two paragraph bio and a digital high resolution photo. We use this information to prepare a directory of participants.

In an essay of about two pages, describe your background and your career aspirations, with an emphasis on the leadership style and skills you wish to develop. Include a description of a critical incident (regarding leadership) in which you were involved. Describe your role (official leader, assumed leader, or follower) in this incident.

If you participate in the Emerging Leaders Program, your organization will be expected to pay the program’s fee, which is $7,000.00 due by August 6, 2014. Please provide the following information about the person in your organization to whom the bill for the fee should be sent. We will send the bill upon your admission to the program.

Please note: Limited, partial financial aid is available. If your organization is in need of such help, an appropriate representative of the organization should write to the Emerging Leaders Program to request it. Requests for scholarship support must be received by April 30, 2014 (address below).
